Jill Risnes, a professional artist and author of this original painting, explained that this painting was one of her most inspired works to date. In her words she said this: All of the light is coming from the Eucharist. He is the light of the world, and our Blessed Mother is bringing Him to us to bring us out of the darkness.
This painting is extremely powerful!!!!! To me it looks like she is going into battle with the Lord, whom she is carrying. In Genesis God says to the serpent: “Genesis 3-15 “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel”.
He shall bruise your head means: the seed of the woman, that is mankind descended from Eve, will eventually gain the victory over the powers of evil. This victory will, of course, be gained through the work of the Messiah who is par excellence the seed of the woman. and Mary, too, would have her share in the victory, inasmuch as she was mother of the Savior.
If you notice, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is stepping on the serpent.
