Make Your Own Bug Repellent

Well it is definitely that time of year once again…..Bugs and Mosquitoes coming on the attack.  I found a recipe that I would like to try.  You can see if this works for you.

Bug-Be-Gone Sprayimage

Add Distilled water to a spray bottle to the halfway mark.

Fill the rest of the bottle with witch hazel

Add 60 drops of essential oils and shake well.  The oils to use would be rosemary, clove or eucalyptus.

Mosquitos hate the smell of citronella, rosemary, catnip, mint, marigolds, basil, lemongrass and garlic.  Birds will eat hundreds of mosquitos a day, so put up bird houses as a natural preventative as well.

Mosquito Stings:  Mix 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar with 1 cup of water and apply to the sting with a soft and clean cotton pad.  Repeat as many times as necessary to reduce swelling and pain.

Weed Killer Recipes

1.  Spray weeds with undiluted Apple Cider Vinegar — thats it.  However, this will only kill them for a short time.

2.  Permanent Weed Killer Recipe: – (which I have tried before and definitely kills the soil so don’t use where you want other things to grow)

  • 1 gallon Vinegar
  • 1 cup table salt
  • stir the solution until all the salt has dissolved completely
  • stir in 1 tbsp of liquid dishwashing soap.  This will act as a surfactant and make the vinegar and salt solution adhere to the weeds more efficiently.
  • drench the weeds with the solution on a dry, sunny day.  Coat all surfaces well with the spray.  Any plants soaked with this solution will die within several days

Gardening Tips

I am putting in my first real garden ever.  Vegetables that is.  So, my husband built me five raised beds for me to start with.  I had read about companion planting for vegetables which helps keep many bugs away…..you can find the list here.

Blessings to everyone today

Saint Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) summed up our need for God’s help in the following prayer he wrote: “God our Father, we find it difficult to come to you, because our knowledge of you is imperfect. In our ignorance we have imagined you to be our enemy; we have wrongly thought that you take pleasure in punishing our sins; and we have foolishly conceived you to be a tyrant over human life. But since Jesus came among us, he has shown that you are loving, and that our resentment against you was groundless.”

God does not wish to leave us in spiritual darkness – in our ignorance and unbelief. He is always ready to give his light, wisdom, and truth to all who seek him and who hunger for his word. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit he helps us to grow each and every day in faith, knowledge, and understanding of his life-giving word. Do you want to know more of God and grow in his transforming love? Look to Jesus, the Light of God, and in his truth you will find joy, freedom, and wholeness of body, mind, heart, and soul. The Dark Night Of The Soul

imageAs we journey throughout life, we will journey either towards God or away from God.  If you have God in your life right now,  you are probably in one of three phases of the Spiritual Life.

These include the beginners, proficients and the unitive stages.  Rather than me trying to explain what each stage means, I found an on-line book explaining these three different stages.

St John of the Cross is the Author of this book and it could be very helpful to you if you are going through things but do not understand what is happening to you.

I know that once I started walking with the Lord,  It was like what they call “the honeymoon stage”.  The Lord will give you many consolations so as to encourage you before the purging begins.

The second stage is what they call the Proficients where you will be tried by means of your senses.  Many people fall away in this stage because they no longer have the sweet consolations of God.  Darkness descends upon the soul and you feel totally abandoned by God.  He begins to allow many trials and difficulties for you to test you, purify you, and bring you closer.  This stage can last many years and the degree of purification will depend on how much you have to be purified.

I, for instance, was away from the Church for many years and so I had lots to be purged.  My road was long and arduous.  He had to do alot of work with me and still is working on me.  I felt as though I was living in Hell for many years.  It was indeed very dark and I didn’t have a clue what was happening and neither did anyone else, until one day, while sitting with the Lord in Adoration,  I noticed a book called “The Dark Night of the Soul”.  This helped immensely.  It explains all the different things that you may be experiencing and why.

The third and final stage is what is called the “Unitive Stage” where you become one with the Holy Trinity.  Your will is now fully in-line with God’s Divine Will.  You are becoming victorious over all of your faults and growing daily in virtue.  The first two stages is related to the purging of the senses.  This final stage is the purging of the Spirit and much more painful than the first two stages.

You can find the on-line book here.

I hope you find this to be of help to you.  Many Blessings to all

The Shemitah

imageI have been getting information lately about the Shemitah and how it may have something to do with the upcoming financial crisis in America.  I started to do some reading on my own and I think it may be something to really think about.

There is no such thing as a coincidence.  I call it “Godincidence”.   Why, because absolutely nothing can happen unless God allows it.  We too often think along the lines of secularism instead of seeing things through the eyes of God.  We need to take a closer look at how God works, which is why He is always so adamant that we read the Bible.  To understand God’s ways we need to know God and we know God by reading His Word.    Nothing  happens without His allowing it….in fact scripture states “Why even the hairs of your head are all numbered” (Luke 12:7).  This verse gave me so much comfort knowing that God saw all and knew all.  Hebrews 13:7 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever”.

God does not change His ways….just because we are 2000 some years away from the time of Jesus walking the earth, a thousand years is like a day for the Lord.  No matter how modern we have become, this does not change God.  We really need to see things through the eyes and heart of God.

So what is the Shemitah:  I found an interesting article which seems to explain it all very well.

In the Bible, the people of Israel were commanded to let the land lie fallow every seven years. There would be no sowing and no reaping, and this is something that God took very seriously. In fact, the failure to observe these Sabbath years was one of the main reasons cited in the Scriptures for why the Jewish people were exiled to Babylon in 586 BC.

But there was more to the Shemitah year than just letting the land lie fallow.

On the last day of the Shemitah year, the people of Israel were instructed to perform a releasing of debts. We find the following in Deuteronomy chapter 15…

At the end of every seven years you shall grant a relinquishing of debts. This is the manner of the relinquishing: Every creditor that has loaned anything to his neighbor shall relinquish it. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother, because it is called the Lord’s relinquishment.

This happened at the end of every seven years on Elul 29 – the day right before Rosh Hashanah on the Biblical calendar.

So what does this have to do with us today?

Well, if you go back to the last day of the Shemitah year in 2001, you will find that there was an absolutely horrifying stock market crash.image

Read more here.

I find this to be very interesting and like I said I believe God is speaking to us and warning us…what do you think?

I hope you all have a fun and very safe memorial Weekend.  Blessings to all.

Prepare your hearts

image

Dear Friends:  I had the rush of the Holy Spirit come upon me and I knew the Lord wanted to speak to you.  So, I typed it as fast as I heard the words come through.  You must always go to the Lord and discern all things, as well as all that I write on this blog.  I, myself, am going through my own purification and continually seek the sacrament of reconciliation because I sin all the time.   I am striving to overcome my own weaknesses and faults.  This is all that He is asking of you….strive, with His help to become a signpost of love and light for others.  God uses the weakest to give glory to Himself.  For how can God be glorified in someone who boasts of their own strengths and pious behavior.  It is when the sinners come to Him, humbly, and lay down their hearts at His feet and beg forgiveness and His help that God can be truly glorified.  These are the souls that bring God the most joy and happiness.  Jesus came for the sinners….thats us.

Mary Magdalene was a great sinner, but she repented and became the most loved of all.  She glorified God by being a signpost of what God can do with us if we are willing.  She fell at Jesus’ feet and wept for her sins.  Because of this she was graced with much.

My dearest Children I come to you today to ask you with great urgency to Prepare Your Hearts, for My Return is imminent.  I will not look at how much you have stored and prepared for the famine and chaos that is to come.  First and Foremost, I will look into your hearts.  If you had nothing but the clothes on your back, yet you had prepared your heart for Me, your God, I will protect you.  Should the whole earth by annihilated, I would protect you.  Those who have hidden places to escape to….I know where you are at.  It is by My Hand and My Will that those who have prepared themselves as the Bride prepares herself for the Groom, that My eyes of protection will be upon.  Do you understand this my children.  I need your hearts…I need your love.   I long for your love, as a parent pines for the love of their own children.

Yes, I am asking that my children prepare for the worst but hope for the best.  It is through prayers and fasting that much can be mitigated.  But, do not focus so much on external preparations….rather, what I want is internal changes made first.  Come to me with your whole heart and soul.  Long for Me your God who loves and cherishes you and have come down to earth to meet you.   Humble yourselves as My Jesus humbled Himself.  Prostrate your hearts before Me.  Nothing and I mean Nothing can harm you if you have clothed yourselves in My virtues and love.  If you are in My heart who can hurt you?

I have asked all my children who wish to be the Apostles of the End Times to consecrate themselves to Me through my Mother, Mary.  Dearest children, for those who do not understand my Mother’s role in these end times did you come to Me and ask Me if this is My wish or have your hearts remained unbending, have they remained in denial of this truth, have you sought My advice and counsel on this matter?  If not, you are stuck in doing your own will.  You are attached to your own opinions rather than on Mine.  Many think that they will be offending Me by seeking help from My Mother, whom I have given the task of bringing all My children to Me, through Her Heart, just as I was brought into the world through her.  You my beloved children do not always understand the Mysteries of God so rather than ignoring my pleas should you not come to Me first….Seek My Counsel and My Will?  Ask and you shall receive.  All that I have is yours for the asking.  You are My beloved Children whom I have created….not for satan but for ME.  Please don’t deny Me my rights as your Father.  I have so much good to give to you that I want to share with you.  If you could only see what I have planned for you.  Pray and discern with the help of My Spirit…the Holy Spirit whom I have sent into the world to guide and direct you.  Pray, Pray, Pray I beg you.  —–God the Father

I need to relate something here.  I often spoke of how sin and sickness is interconnected.  Sin causes sickness and disease.  Our sins and the sins of others.  Long ago I asked the Lord if I could do my purgatory here on earth….what this means is that instead of having to atone for my sins once I die, in purgatory, I wanted to atone for them all here.  Because of this desire and wish of mine, the Lord has always allowed me to suffer in atonement for my sins now.  Last week I was really struggling with being charitable to my neighbors who were really annoying.   (Neighbor is everyone, not just those living next to me).  I began to get sick and nothing I did was helping…it then dawned on me that I was suffering because of my sins against charity.  I sat with the Lord and pondered what my sins were and I repented whole heartedly.  The very next morning all of my symptoms were gone.  I was completely well.  I then went to confession.

Sickness and sin go together.  Whether you suffer for it now or later, we all have to atone for our sins at some point.  If you have sickness going on in your life, check your hearts and see if you need to repent of something and then go to the Lord and ask for forgiveness and seek His grace in confession if you are Catholic.

May God Bless each and every one of you this day.

Possessing the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit

Pentecost Sunday is next week and so I thought I would write a little on how we can possess the Holy Spirit, who is the giver of gifts and is considered to be the Heart of God.  The Holy Spirit is our guide through life as well as our comforter.  We all received the gifts of the Holy Spirit, together with the virtues and graces on the day of our Baptism.  But to activate them is something that we must do through our desire to know God and to Love God and to do the Will of God.  (This is why we must be baptized, and the sooner the better)

Before Jesus ascended into Heaven He told the Apostles “I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high”. (Luke 24:49)

These words to His Apostles were directing them to gather together and pray until the Holy Spirit came upon them, which is why we ourselves do a 9 day novena to the Holy Spirit asking for the same power to come upon us.  We started this novena last friday.

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.  And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each on of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:1-4)

Peter addresses the Crowd and speaks of what was spoken by the prophet Joel:  And in the last days, it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams.  Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.  And I will perform wonders in the sky above and miraculous signs on the earth below, blood and fire and clouds of smoke.  The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.  And then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2: 17-21)……Thus tongues are a sign not for believers, but for unbelievers, while prophecy is not for unbelievers, but for believers (14:22)

The Holy Spirit speaks to us, breathes upon us and inspires us.  However, we hear Him only in the measure that we Love Him.  The voice of the Holy Spirit is gentle and very delicate.  We must be docile to the motions of the Spirit.

“The sensual man does not perceive the things that are of the Spirit of God, for it is foolishness to him and he cannot understand, because it is examined spiritually.  But the spiritual man judges all things, and he himself is judged by no man.  For “who has known the mind of the Lord, that he might instruct him?  But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:14-16)

To know the mind of Christ, the soul has to be pure in order to perceive the  meaning of the divine inspirations and surrendered to the will of God, such that the individual will embrace all without hesitation at any sacrifice.  If we are not in God’s will, we will not know the mind of God.  The more we desire to be in God’s will in all things, the more He will pour forth His gifts upon us.

Jesus taught us this by the very fact that his entire life on earth was to adore and love the Father and to fulfill His most holy will.   Doing the will of God is the norm for perfection, and according to the mystic Luisa Piccaretta, once we are all willing to do the will of God, we shall see the new heavens and new earth.  That is when we shall come into the New Era of Peace.   We will once again be like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden before sin entered into the equation.

So, let us all pray to the Spirit of God asking for Him to come and renew us and the face of the earth.  Let us pray and ask God to help us to know His divine will for our lives and then pray for the grace to do all that He asks us to do.  This is the secret to our happiness here on earth while we are in exile.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity who perfects us.  God the Father is the creator; Jesus, the Son is the redeemer, and the Holy Spirit is the sanctifier.  The Holy Spirit brings about our sanctification by moving us and directing us in such a way that we are actually doing the work, which is why we are directed to always give the credit to God for all the good that we do, because we could not do it without the inspiration and direction and help of the Holy Spirit.

As I mentioned earlier we must activate these gifts.  Three ways to do this is One –  through Love, for charity is the root of the gifts and whenever we love, we are able to receive inspirations of the Holy Spirit; second, we must develop the virtues of faith, hope, love, patience, humility, perseverance, and obedience; and thirdly by being responsive to His inspirations.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit which we receive at Confirmation then are poured forth in varying degrees (according to our love for God).  These gifts are Wisdom, knowledge, understanding, Piety, Counsel, fortitude, and Fear of the Lord.  I wrote about these gifts and what they mean in a post which can be found here.

Spiritual Gifts of the Holy Spirit:  These are  gifts from God given to us for the common good of others.  “God has appointed in the Church first apostles, second prophets, third, teachers, then workers of miracles, then healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues” (1 Cor. 12:28).  St. Paul, in 1 Corinthians exhorts the people to  earnestly desire these gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.

“For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit, on the other hand, he who prophesies speaks for the their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.  He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the Church.  Now I want all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy.  He who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless some one interprets, so that the Church may be edified”. (1Cor 14:2-5)

Consecration to the Holy Spirit Prayer:

Here is a prayer that I have been directed to give to others

Oh Holy Ghost, divine spirit of light and love, I consecrate to thee my intellect, my heart, my will and my whole being for time and eternity.

May my intellect be ever docile to thy heavenly inspirations and to the teaching of the Catholic Church of which thou art the infallible Guide.  May my heart be ever inflamed with the Love of God and my neighbor, may my will be ever in conformity with the divine will, and my whole life be a faithful imitation of the life and virtues of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom, with the Father and thee, Holy Spirit, be honor and glory for ever.  Amen.

Pentecost Prayer (Taken from the booklet “In the End my Immaculate Heart will Triumph” consecration to Jesus through Mary).  This 33 day consecration period is a series of meditations and prayers for the gifts of the Holy Spirit which I spoke of above.  This is what Jesus asked all of us to do:  consecrate ourselves to Him through Mary.

“Spirit of Christ, stir me; Spirit of Christ, move me; Spirit of Christ, fill me; Spirit of Christ seal me.  Consecrate in me Your heart and will oh Heavenly Father.  Create in me a fountain of virtues.  Seal my soul as Your own, that Your reflection in me may be a light for all to see. Amen.”

May God Bless your day

The Power of the Tongue

image
5 So the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire!
6 And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is an unrighteous world among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the cycle of nature, and set on fire by hell.
7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by humankind,
8 but no human being can tame the tongue — a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God.
10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brethren, this ought not to be so. (James 3:5-10)image

This is another lesson that the Lord has placed on my heart today to speak about.  How our words can bring blessings or curses.  Words have the power to do serious damage and I do believe after reading the works of some of the Saints, we don’t really understand how we are hurting ourselves and others through the various means of what they call “backbiting”.

I myself  struggle with understanding what exactly constitutes “backbiting or gossiping”.  It is all to easy to get into a conversation and then before you know it we are talking about what someone did to us or something we heard about someone, etc.  While praying and asking the Lord for help on this matter, I was perusing the amazon book store for a book on the Consecration to Mary when all of a sudden this book called “Sins of the Tongue:  The Backbiting Tongue”, by Fr. Belet  popped up and I was taken aback. I then realized my prayer had been answered so I ordered it – $.99 cents for kindles.  Not bad price so I got it.

I am going to share some of what is written so you will have an understanding as well.  This is something that the Lord really wants us to stop doing.  St. Thomas Aquinas defines “backbiting” as denigration of a neighbor’s reputation by means of secret words.  St. Anthony says backbiting is every sort of wicked word we dare not speak in front of the person about whom we are talking”.  Saint Bernard says “Backbiting is a great vice, a great sin, a great crime”.

The Author goes on to say there are eight specific ways in which we backbite our neighbor:

  • When he gets carried away by vanity and imputes things against his neighbor that never happened, or when he adds to the truth imaginary circumstances either a lie or detraction.

  • When he brings a hidden or unknown fault to light.  What he says is imagetrue, but he should not say it.  He backbites, not by saying something untrue, but by wounding his neighbors reputation.  This is a very common sin among us.

(The Author states here that no, we cannot state the truth, unless you do so without harming your neighbor.  What you say may be true, but it is hidden.  The sinner has wounded his conscience in God’s sight, but he has not lost his reputation before men.  Therefore you may not weaken or destroy it with your tongue.  As long as the secret is not public knowledge, you are backbiting if you reveal it to someone who was unaware of it)

  • When he exaggerates a crime, be it true or false.  This is a danger to which we readily expose ourselves when we talk about the vices of others.
  • When he relates something about another person that is not evil in any way, but speaks as though his neighbor had done it for evil reasons and adds various explanations such as “yes, he did that, but not with God in mind…He’s not as pious as all that; he seeks to please men; he wants to stand out…You should know him, he’s a hypocrite”.
  • When a backbiter declares nothing but is happy to say, “I’ve heard it said that….” or “there’s a rumor going around…” or when he relates something as if it were doubtful:  “So-and-so might not be exactly what you think, I don’t think he is deserving of confidence.  His neighbors never heard anything about his holiness, except that only since yesterday has he been rated among the devout.”  Or again, when he praises with coldness and reticence.  Aulu-Gelle says, “It is more shameful to be coldly and reservedly praised than harshly and bitterly accused”.
  • Backbiting is so subtle that anyone can defame another person with a simple gesture. He hears someone being praised for his integrity, piety or generosity, and he says “Oh, you don’t know that fellow?  I see right through him.  Ask me anything about him, I know him inside out.”  Or he raises an eyebrow and remains silent; he shakes his head; he turns his eyes so as to have it understood that the person being praised does not deserve it.  Sometimes a backbiter may keep his mouth shut and just turn his hand two or three times to indicate that the person in question is lightheaded and changes from hour to hour.
  • He can backbite not only with body language but also with silence.  He may wickedly say nothing about the integrity or morals of his neighbor, especially when he is questioned about them or when his neighbor is accused of some crime.
  • Finally, a person is guilty of backbiting if he is publicly blamed for something he did, and he denies his guilt, thereby making his accuser pass for a liar.  It is surely not an obligation to publicly admit a fault committed in secret.  However, one should justify himself in some other way, saying for instance, “those are only words, they don’t prove anything.  Whoever head them may have been mistaken.  Don’t believe everything you hear”.  This way of speaking is far more acceptable than the first.

St. Antiochus, Homily 29 De Detract says ” Backbiting is a devil that never rests”. St. Bernard says that backbiting wounds three people at once:  himself, his listener, and his adversary.  “The Backbiter proves, first, that he has no charity.  And then, what is his purpose, if not to get others to detest and hate their neighbor?  Therefore, the backbiting tongue wounds charity in everyone who listens to it.  It kills and stifles charity as much as it can”  (St. Bernard)

Saint Vincent Ferrer, a Spaniard in Saint Dominics Spiritual Family preached on the duty of repairing our neighbors reputation.  “The person who maliciously robs his neighbors reputation is held to restoring it on the same level as someone who steals.  If what you said is secret even though it is true, you are obliged to restore his reputation.  Otherwise you will not go to heaven.”image

So, I think I finally realize just how serious this is….I hope this also helps you .  One step at a time.  We will never become perfect, but God looks at the heart.  Are we trying?  Ask for His grace to overcome your various faults.  I know, I am certainly going to try and work on my faults in this regard.   Sirach 19:10 states “Let anything you hear die within you, rest assured, it will not make you burst”.

Natural Remedies using Apple Cider Vinegar

image

I just purchased a book on all the known uses of Apple Cider Vinegar…very interesting.  I will share some of the recipes with you here.  Apparently, Apple Cider Vinegar has been known since the time of ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece.  It was said that the Roman Army used it to stay strong and healthy.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, used this amazing elixir as a natural antibiotic and antiseptic to heal patients in 400 B.C.!

Apple Cider Vinegar has been used for tons of different things such as cleaning your whole house, aiding digestion, flu prevention, reduce inflammation, regulate the PH of your body, alleviate allergy symptoms, ease heartburn and nausea, used as a detox, skin conditions, acne and smoothing out our wrinkles.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar has a cloudy appearance with thread-like pieces floating around, which is called the Mother.  As the vinegar ages these thread-like structures become more pronounced.  In the “Mother” are  valuable nutrients and beneficial bacterial that make unprocessed Apple Cider Vinegar so special.  Raw ACV should also have a strong aroma and make you pucker when you taste it. These signs, along with the visible appearance of the mother, are good indications that your ACV is of high quality.(Alternative Daily)

Some of the beneficial ingredients in raw, organic ACV include:

Potassium: promotes cell tissue and organism growth, and helps prevent brittle teeth and hair loss
Iron: important for blood health
Magnesium: vital to heart health
Enzymes: boosts chemical reactions in the body
Malic acid: protects vinegar from viruses, bacteria and fungus
Acetic acid: slows the digestion of starch
Calcium: builds strong bones and teeth
Pectin: helps regulate blood pressure and cholesterol
Ash: maintains a healthy alkaline state in the body

Apple Cider Vinegar is very acidic so it is recommended that you always DILUTE it in water before drinking.

These are just a few but I will give you more as we go along.

If you google Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits you will find lots of uses.  Here is the recipe for making your own apple cider vinegar.  Can be found here.

Spiritual Warfare tips from Jesus to St. Faustina

imageOur days are usually fraught with many thoughts coming our way through the evil one himself.  We often do not realize that these thoughts are coming from the evil one, but they are.  All that is good and holy comes from God, but all doubtful, negative, and disturbing thoughts come from evil.

I found this article about Jesus instructing St. Faustina on how to fight the evil ones tactics, which I would like to share with you.

Jesus began, “My daughter, I want to teach you about spiritual warfare” (1760). (The Lord’s words are in bold text; the authors comments follow)

Never trust in yourself but abandon yourself totally to My will.
Trust is a spiritual weapon. Trust is part of the shield of faith that St. Paul mentions in chapter six of Ephesians: the armor of God. Abandonment to God’s will is an act of trust; faith in action dispels evil spirits.

In desolation, darkness and various doubts, have recourse to Me and to your spiritual director. He will always answer you in my name.
In times of spiritual warfare, immediately pray to Jesus. Invoke His Holy Name that is feared in the netherworld. Bring darkness into the light by telling a spiritual director or confessor and follow his instruction.

Do not bargain with any temptation; lock yourself immediately in My Heart.
In the Garden of Eden, Eve bargained with the devil and lost. We have recourse to the refuge of the Sacred Heart. In running to Christ, we turn our backs on the demonic.

At the first opportunity, reveal the temptation to the confessor.
A good confession, a good confessor, and a good penitent are a recipe for victory over temptation and demonic oppression—without fail.

Put your self-love in the last place, so that it does not taint your deeds.
Self-love is natural but it should be ordered, free of pride. Humility defeats the devil that is perfect pride. Satan tempts us to disordered self-love to lead us into his pool of pride.

Bear with yourself with great patience.
Patience is a secret weapon that helps us to keep our peace of soul even in the great storms of life. Bearing with oneself is part of humility and trust. The devil tempts us to impatience, to turn against our selves so we become angry. See yourself from God’s view. He is infinitely patient.

Do not neglect interior mortifications.
Scripture teaches that some demons can only be evicted by prayer and fasting. Interior mortifications are weapons of warfare. They can be small sacrifices offered with great love. The power of sacrificial love evicts the enemy.

Always justify to yourself the opinions of your superiors and of your confessor.
Christ is speaking to St. Faustina who lives in a convent. But we all have people in authority over us. The devil aims to divide and conquer so humble obedience to authentic authority is a spiritual weapon.

Shun murmurs like a plague.
The tongue is a powerful vessel that can do great harm. Murmuring, gossiping, is never of God. The devil is a liar who stirs up false accusations and gossip that can kill a person’s reputation. Shun murmurs!

Let all act as they like; you are to act, as I want you to.
To mind one’s own business is key in spiritual warfare. The devil is a busybody attempting to drag everyone down. Please God and let the opinions of others go by the wayside.

Observe the rule as faithfully as you can.
Jesus is referring to the rule of a Religious Order here. Most of us have made some vow before God and Church and we should be faithful our promises—i.e. Marriage vows and baptismal vows. Satan tempts to infidelity, lawlessness and disobedience. Fidelity is a weapon for victory.

If someone causes you trouble, think what good you can do for the person who caused you to suffer.
Being a vessel of divine mercy is a weapon for good and for defeating evil. The devil is about hatred, rage, revenge, and unforgiveness. Others have hurt us all at some time. What good can we do in return? Returning a blessing breaks curses.

Do not pour out your feelings.
A talkative soul will more easily be attacked by the devil. Pour out your feelings to the Lord only. Remember, the good and evil spirits hear what you say aloud. Feelings are fleeting. Truth is the compass. Interior recollection is a spiritual armor.

Be silent when you are rebuked.
Most of us have been rebuked at some time. We have no control over that but we can control our response. The need to be right all the time can lead into demonic traps. God knows the truth. Let it go. Silence is a protection. The devil can use self-righteousness to trip us up also.

Do not ask everyone’s opinion, but only the opinion of your confessor; be as frank and simple as a child with him.
Simplicity of life can drive out demons. Honesty is a weapon to defeat Satan, the Liar. When we lie we put a foot in his camp and he will try to seduce us all the more.

Do not become discouraged by ingratitude.
No one likes to be taken for granted. But when we are met with ingratitude or insensitivity, the spirit of discouragement can weigh us down. Resist all discouragement for it is never of God. It is one of the devil’s most effective temptations. Gratitude in all things wins the day.

Do not examine with curiosity the roads down which I lead you.
The need to know, and curiosity about the future is a temptation that has led too many people into the backrooms of psychics, witches, etc. Choose to walk in faith. Decide to trust in God who leads you on the path to heaven. Resist the spirit of curiosity always.

When boredom and discouragement beat against your heart, run away from yourself and hide in My heart.
Jesus delivers the same message a second time. Now He refers to boredom. Earlier in the Diary he told St. Faustina that the devil most easily tempts idle souls. Beware of boredom, a spirit of lethargy, or acedia—the noonday devil. Idle souls are easy prey for demons. Be about the business of God.

Do not fear struggle; courage itself often intimidates temptations, and they dare not attack us.
Fear is the second most common tactic of the devil (pride is the first). Courage intimidates the devil—he will flee in the face of persevering courage that stands on Jesus, the rock. All people struggle, God is our provision.

Always fight with the deep conviction that I am with you.
Jesus instructs a Sister in a convent to “fight” with conviction. She can do so because Christ accompanies her. Christians are called to fight with conviction against all demonic tactics. The devil tries to terrorize souls, demonic terrorism—resist! Invoke the Holy Sprit throughout the day.

Do not be guided by feeling, because it is not always under your control; but all merit lies in the will.
All merit lies in the will because love is an act of the will. We are completely free in Christ. We must make a choice, a decision for good or evil. What camp do we live in?

Always depend upon your superiors, even in the smallest things.
Christ is instructing a Religious here. But, we all have the Lord as our Superior. Dependence upon God is a weapon of spiritual warfare because we cannot win on our own. Proclaiming Christ’s victory over evil is part of intentional discipleship. Christ came to defeat death & evil. Proclaim Him!

I will not delude you with prospects of peace and consolations; on the contrary, prepare for great battles.
St. Faustina suffered physically and spiritually. She was prepared for great battles by the grace of God who upheld her. Christ clearly instructs us in scripture to be prepared for great battles, to put on God’s armor and resist the devil. Be vigilant and discerning always.

Know that you are on a great stage where all heaven and earth are watching you.
We are all on a great stage where heaven and earth are watching. What message is our life giving? What radiates from us—shades of light, darkness or grey? The way we live attracts more light or more darkness. If the devil does not succeed in pulling us into darkness, he tries to keep us in the category of the lukewarm, which is not pleasing to God.

Fight like a knight, so I can reward you. Do not be unduly fearful, because you are not alone.
The Lord’s words to St. Faustina can become our mantra: Fight like a knight! A knight for Christ knows well the cause that he fights for, the nobility of his mission, the King who he serves, and with blessed assuredness of the victory, he fights to the end, even at the cost of his life. If a young, uneducated, simple Polish nun, united to Christ, can fight like a knight, every Christian can do the same. Trust is victorious.

The tares and the Wheat

The Wheat and the Tare
The Wheat and the Tare

But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. 26″But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. 27″The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’… Matthew 13:25

This scripture verse was given to me when I was pondering yet another situation of Priestly sex abuse.  The Priest is in custody and people are once again shocked and horrified.  This young Priest of 29 is sitting in jail and being charged with 2nd and 4th degree assault of 3 young women.   This occurred in Hibbing, MN, Diocese of Duluth.

The Lord is saying that we will always have the evil among the good.  He has told us this in scripture and He wants me to write about this because of the scandal that this causes for the Catholic Church and the good Priests and Bishops.

I have known many good people who leave the Church because of the actions of a bad Priest.  Judas betrayed Jesus, whom he walked with and talked to for three years.  However, people of that time, did not leave Jesus because of Judas’s actions.

This is the same thing….when we have unrealistic expectations of other people or organizations, such as the Catholic Church,  people quickly fall away….sometimes it is because of a lack of faith, and other times simply because they are scandalized and want nothing to do with those associated with the one who gave scandal.   Priests are held to a very high standard, as they should be, but they are not gods.  They act in Persona Christi, but they are still human.

satan attacks and tempts Priests more than any other person, according to some of the messages given by Jesus and Mary.  We are asked to pray for them very much because they are under such heavy attack.  Jesus has also said that Hell has been emptied out and if we could see in the spiritual world we would see nothing but black all around us.

The Church is going through her purification for her many sins and this is scriptural as stated in Revelations.  The enemy of God has entered into the highest levels of the Church and we all will suffer much persection for our belief in Jesus Christ and the Bible.    If we deny God and our belief we will be left alone, but then we lose our lives and all eternity with God.  If we do not deny God but stand firm, we will suffer, but will attain eternal life.

Jesus says love the sinner but hate the sin.  We should abhor the sin of sexual abuse and I am sure most do….but, we must not condemn the souls of these men who have been bit by the snake.  Rather, we must pray for them that they will accept God’s mercy and forgiveness.  Judas was given the chance to repent and accept God’s mercy and forgiveness, but he was too ashamed and in despair to accept His mercy.  He hung himself instead.

The truly sad part here is that three young women, in this case, have been hurt and betrayed by someone they trusted.  This could scar them for many years.  The parents have been betrayed, God has been betrayed, the parisheners  of this Priest have been betrayed,  his fellow Priests have been betrayed and he betrayed himself.  He hurt many, many people all because of “lust”.

satan’s goal is to bring down the Church and he seems to be doing a rather fine job.  But we need to stand our ground and not leave the Lord.  We are the Church and God is the head of the Church.  We cannot let the evil actions of some destroy our faith in God and the Church.   We do not go to Mass because of the Priest…we go to hear the Word of God and receive Jesus in the Eucharist to give us the strength and graces that we need to endure life with its many sorrows.  If we stop going we deny ourselves the graces we need for life itself., and this is exactly what satan wants.  I left the Church for similar reasons and it did nothing but hurt me.

Jesus is our lifeline in the Eucharist.  We must always go to Him and never stop no matter what the evil one does.  This Priest had to have much pride to think he could get away with it, especially when the Church has been cracking down really hard on anyone who is even suspected of such behavior.  First comes pride, then the fall.  This is something we all need to remember.

One of the tricks that satan uses in these situations is to get the Priest into a very friendly relationship with the family….they are then taken off guard.  The Priest becomes emboldened and then the temptations begin assiduously.  I have seen this happen on a number of occassions and this one is no different.  He was friends of this family.   I have known Priests who have left the Priesthood because they became too friendly with women in the parish……not good.   Priests need to not be partial to anyone or any family.  For one thing, to show partiality is a sin and another thing, it leads them into satans trap.   If I feel a Priest is becoming too friendly, I try to discourage it as soon as possible, for his sake as well as for his reputation.  If we get sucked into these friendly relationships we, ourselves, will have much to answer for.  Let us not add to their temptations.   Trust me, I know what I am talking about here.

Jesus said we must forgive, not because He doesn’t care about us being hurt by others but because He loves us so much.  He knows that unforgiveness on our part, can kill our souls.  We do not hurt the perpetrator, but rather ourselves.
